It’s quite possible Chris Wilder has been reading our articles.
We spoke last week about how the Blades needed to start games more on the front foot, as a way to act as the perfect way to get the best out of their defence which sits joint best in the league in terms of goals conceded.
Lo and behold, what do we get? 3-0 up at half time, allowing them the breathing space to more or less cruise through the second half. Visitors Burnley failed to pose any major threat, amounting to just four shots in the second half and none of them ending up on target.
So well done to Wilder and his men for doing exactly what we asked him to do, whether he pays attention to us or not.
Now, it’s all about doing it on a regular basis and making sure that the levels don’t drop.
It’s all well and good doing it against a side like Burnley but despite finishing seventh a few years ago, they aren’t one of the bigger teams in the Premier League, and results like this aren’t going to be the ones that fans talk about come the end of the season.

These next two games are going to be the real test to see what kind of side Sheffield United can be this season. They face off against two ‘big teams’ in Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, both of whom have undergone troubling campaigns, and aren’t really performing at levels that were expected of them at the start of the season.
If the Blades are serious about being taken seriously in this division, these are the kinds of matches that will put the rest of the league on notice.
If they can keep up that aggressive style and ruffle some more feathers, as they did against Arsenal by defeating them, they really could be on course for something special this season.
If they can get an early goal and really ‘put the frighteners’ on them and ask them to try and break down that defence, then we’ll really get to see what they are made of.
