As reported by Spanish outlet COPE, Real Madrid won’t be pursuing Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino this summer to replace former boss Zinedine Zidane.
What’s the story?
Zidane sensationally resigned from his post at the Spanish giants just days after leading them to their third successive UEFA Champions League trophy, leading to speculation that they could make a move for Spurs boss Pochettino, despite the Argentinian recently signing a new contract at the club.
However, it appears Tottenham fans can rest easy.
COPE report that Madrid won’t be looking to bring Pochettino to the Bernabeu, due to the fierce reputation that chairman Daniel Levy has as a negotiator, having previously dealt with the Spanish club in deals for Luka Modric and Gareth Bale.
The outlet also reckon a key factor is the fact there is no release clause in Pochettino’s new long-term contract at the club.

How big is this for Tottenham?
Even though he recently signed a new deal at Spurs, if there was any team in world football that gave supporters fear that Pochettino could be lured away it was Real Madrid.
Spurs now have fantastic stability at the club and they are well placed to build upon the progress already made under the Argentinian boss.
The end of the Pochettino era would likely also have seen the exit of players and so retaining him this summer could be massive in their chase for silverware.
It shows their star players like Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Hugo Lloris that there is a long-term viability to staying at Tottenham as well a sharing ambitions to win titles and trophies.
A strong summer period of recruitment will see them push on further next season. Can Pochettino deliver the success everyone involved with the club craves?
