Tottenham Hotspur’s hopes of finishing second in the English Premier League this season received a massive boost on Sunday after they saw off Southampton 2-1 at White Hart Lane.
The win means they ended the day two points clear of Manchester City who could only draw at home to Liverpool.
Still ten points behind Chelsea, the title still looks beyond them but finishing second would show great progression under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino and provide the platform for a serious title challenge next season.
Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli were at the heart of the action for Spurs, who had to to cope with the absence of talismanic striker Harry Kane.
Eriksen opened the scoring, smashing a low drive past Fraser Forster in between the Saints’ sticks.
That striker means the 25 year old has now directly contributed to a massive 10 goals in his last 6 matches, consisting of 7 assists and 3 goals.
It’s a fantastic effort from the attacking midfielder and it’s form that isn’t going unnoticed.
Supporters took to Twitter to share their love for the Danish international…
