United sit 14th in the Premier League table and are 14 points behind fourth-placed Manchester City. Amorim maintains that United can continue to attract world-class players without being in the Champions League, but he admits winning the Europa League could "change everything" for the club ahead of next season. They are set to face Real Sociedad in the round of 16, with the first leg in Spain on Thursday.
WHAT AMORIM SAID
Amorim told: "I think it's not a crucial thing for the future of the club. That is my view. I've been here three months and I think that is clear but I understand it's a massive difference in our season. Especially because we are out of the cups and in a bad position in the league, that could change a lot of things, even the way they see the coach. So I know that is a massive but I will say it again, Manchester United can have all the best players without Champions League in the future. We have to change a lot of things and we're trying to do that. There is more important things than winning cups in this moment, that is my feeling, but I understand that winning the Europa League can change everything for us in the next season."
